Submission of Abstracts
Poster and oral presentations will be accepted.
Abstracts must be written in ENGLISH only. Please, note that poor English will be criteria for abstract rejection.
The abstracts must respect the requirements or will not be accepted by the scientific committee.
Each author could submit only 1 oral presentation (free paper) and 1 poster, but could be the 2nd author in an unlimited number of abstracts.
Each abstract submission must be with 01 author / presenter and the maximum of 4 other authors.
The title must be written in capital letters (maximum of 18 words)
Will not be accepted abstracts that inform the country or institution’s name even in the title or in the text.
The country and institution’s name must be informed in the correct area in the online submission form.
The 1st author is required to register for the congress and pay the corresponding registration fees.
April 30th 2008
Payment deadline for authors to have their abstract published on the congress´ official journal (Journal of Disability and Oral Health).
May 30th 2008
All accepted abstracts will be listed and adverstised on the congress website.
June 30th 2008
Payment deadlines for authors to participate and expose their papers during the congress.
Only one certificate will be given to the authors for each abstract accepted (with all authors names).
Audio Visual And Other Presentation Requirements
Free paper presentations will be allocated 10 minutes each plus 5 minutes discussion time. PowerPoint data projection with single screens will be available in all session rooms.
The author must be responsible for the assemble and disassemble of the poster.
Poster authors will NOT be asked to stand by their poster during the all scheduled poster presentation times.
Poster’s author will be allotted a specified session time to be available to answer questions regarding their posters.
The area to poster presentation will be 0, 90 m (weight)
x 1, 30 m (high);

Dead Line to Submit Abstracts : April 30th, 2008

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee, which reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the Program. The Congress Program Coordinator will communicate with authors regarding minor changes.
Abstracts will be grouped by Topic. Please indicate the topic most suitable to your abstract. Please note this does not guarantee that your abstract will be grouped within category in the final program. However, the program structure will allow for a limited number of oral presentations.
Only the presenting author's details will appear in the printed Scientific Program. However, All accepted abstracts will be published the abstract title, author list, and affiliations as submitted in the Book of Abstracts as a supplement issue of the Journal of Disability and Oral Health 2008.
Abstract submissions should be directly related to patients with special needs or special care patients.
A blind review process (i.e., reviewers see anonymous abstracts, without names or affiliations attached) will be used by the Program Committee to evaluate all abstracts. Each submitted abstract will would scored by three reviewers.
Authors will be notified of the status of their submission (s), by May 30th, 2008 on the congress website.
The Congress Program Committees will be awarding four (4) certificates of merit to the authors of abstracts considered to be the most outstanding. The certificates will be presented to the authors at the Congress and the authors will be acknowledged in Congress publications. (see “Abstracts Awards”).
Abstract Content
Abstracts should include:
- The reason(s) for the study;
- The methods used;
- The findings;
- The results;
- And the conclusion
Tables are not to be used unless they are essential.
References are similarly discouraged but, if unavoidable, they should be incorporated into the text.
